A new and accurate map of the provinces of North & South Carolina, Georgia, etc., drawn from late surveys and regulated from astronomical observations by Emanuel Bowen (map publisher).

Scope and Contents

This map depicts the provinces located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana and Florida. This map also includes the area inhabited by the Cherokee Nation, as well as the Appalachian Mountains, previously known as the Cherokee Mountains. Inscribed in type, "The Charokee Indians is a Numerous & Warlike Nations; & as they are in Amity and Alliance with the subjects of the Great King of Britain they serve as a powerful Barrier to Carolina & Georgia in the present War against France & Spain. The Emperor of the Charokees and the King of the Catawas renew'd their League of Friendship with Gov. Glenn at Charles Town in South Carolina in May 1745" in top left area on recto; Inscribed in pencil, "1752" in bottom right corner on verso; Scope and Contents note on Cartobibliography Form: "Significant Characteristics: No. 76 from 'A Complete atlas or distinct view of the known world... 69 maps".
