725 Michigan Blvd., Pasadena, California. December 1st, 1936. Mr. W.H. George, 417 First Avenue North Great Falls, Montana. Dear Mr. George: This letter should have been written to you months ago to thank you for your kindness in giving me the manuscript that Mr. Conway left with you. I don’t remember whether I explained to you as fully as I should have at Mrs. Triggs the arrangements under which Mr. Conway wrote that manuscript, but I know you remember the circumstances when we talked about it, and I should have gone down and gotten it. Mr. Conway came up to the Lake and wrote it for me and I paid him a salary while he was working on it. I have a copy of it but in some mysterious way, some of the pages of Conway’s manuscript have been lost and I would appreciate it so much if you will send me the copy you have so that I can see if there is any material in it that I would want to use. I have almost finished my book on Charlie and have used a great deal of the material that I gave Conway, re-writing it en- tirely. I believe you will like my story of Charlie because you liked him in the way lots of old timers fo the West did and know his great qualities. Miss Trigg has heard a lot about my manu- scripts and some time, should you be talking with her, she can tell you what she thinks about it better than I can write it to you.
