May 25, 1 9 2 8. Dr. Walter G. Kendall, 2 Park Square, Boston, Mass. Dear Doctor Kendall: Please find enclosed the photograph you sent me of a picture painted by Charley. It was very nice of you to give me the opportunity to secure this picture but it’s impossible for me to put any more money into pictures at this time. I have quite a few and, of course, must sell occasionally to make my living and that means that I cannot tie up too much money in pictures. If you wish to dispose of your picture, you might send it to Arthur H. Harlow in New York. He is rather successful with Russell pictures. It would be a good idea to write him first to find out whether he’d care to have the picture or not. Trusting you will be able to dispose of your painting to advantage, I am Sincerely, NCR: ED encl photo
