Pasadena, California. January 5, 1931. Dr. Philip G. Cole, 551 Fifth Avenue, New York City, New York. Dear Philip: I am sending a little water color which Charlie gave as a gift to a friend of his here in Los Angeles who has passed on and left his widow in rather needy circumstances. She is anxious to sell the little picture and asks $1200.00 for it. I tried to get a photograph which turned out so poorly I wouldn’t send it to you so I am send- ing the original to you as it seems like a very fine thing to me. Your lovely unusual Christmas card cam.. It cer- tainly is an historical joy and will be put with your card from Forest Hills garden and if we want to get local history around New York, your Christmas cards will give it. We thank you for remembering us. My very best wishes to you and yours. Sincerely,
