Transcript

Pasadena, California. May 5, 1932. Mr. Willard E. Worden, 312 Stockton Street, San Francisco, California. Dear Sir: Your letter of April 12th, received, advising that one of your customers has two of Mr. Russell’s water colors he wishes to sell. I regret that I am not purchasing any of Charlie’s painting at the present time. I appreciate your calling the matter to my attention and am sorry I am not in a position to purchase anything. I have no doubt your customer will find a purchaser for his pictures without much difficulty. T hank[sic] you again for writing me. Very truly yours,

The Homer and Helen Britzman collection consists of over 10,000 objects belonging to Charles M. Russell including letters, drawings, personal belongings, photos, and other memorabilia. Homer Britzman worked extensively with Charles Russell’s wife, Nancy, to write Russell’s biography. Chain of custody: Nancy Russell, Homer and Helen Britzman, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Amon Carter (inventoried collection in 1997), Gilcrease Management Trust (will become property of TU Special Collections if management agreement between TU and the City of Tulsa is severed).
