Typed letter to Dr. Philip G. Cole dated 28 July, 1931 about the bronze bust he ordered being finished with names and that Senator Walsh assures that the model the commission chose will never be used in light of protests.

Transcript

July 28, 1931. Dr. Philip G. Cole, 551 Fifth Avenue, New York City. Dear Philip: This will probably be forwarded to you at Lake Placid Club but I wanted you to know that the bronze bust is finished, marked with your name, Bill Hart’s and mine presenting it to the Russell Memorial. Mr. Sack had Joe de Yong model a figure of Charlie so did not join in with us. I have therefore paid the difference myself. I have seen Senator Walsh and he assures me not to worry about the model which the Commission have chosen. He feels positive- ly that it will never be placed with our pro- tests. You will probably hear from him later. I am glad you are a Montanan too and have this at heart and will go to the bat. Hope you have a fine summer. My love to you all. Sincerely.
