Jan 10-1924.. Mr. Arthur H. Clark The Arthur H. Clark Company 4027-4037 Prospect Ave Cleveland, Ohio. My dear Mr. Clark; Mrs. Russell has been critically ill since the better part of Nov. and unable to attend to any correspondence – at her direction I have ^sent you^ gotten off three of the book size cuts for “Back Trailing on the Old Frontier”, and one copy of a newspaper showing method of handling the articled etc. These drawings were reproduced in two sizes :- one in the book size for smaller Montana weeklie[sic] and the layer – such as I sent you a copy of - appeared in ^Sunday Edition^ Magazine Section of a number of National daileys[sic]. In answer to your questions is numbered:- 1 – There will be 51 drawings 2 – There is text for each of the drawings. 3 – We have the original plates for these drawings but cannot judge their condition – Or few may have to be retouched – The greater number are in the ^same^ condition as the three sent you- namely namely #7[?] Texas Trail Herd; Old Time Freighters – using “String-Team” or jerk line outfit; w “Wild Bill” Hikok’s [sic] fight with McCandles gang in which he won his nam the ^nick^ nich name x wild Bill. 4. Material ^published^ syndicated by Cheely-Raban Syndicate, Ford Bldg – Great Falls, Montana. who can furnish you list of subscribers x 5. All syndicate rights transfered [sic] to us and fully protected by copyright Royalties due us only- 6. I’m glad to hear you have taken an interest in the book and hope [illegible] We will be glad to hear from ya [sic] further in regard to this Sincerely yours.

The Homer and Helen Britzman collection consists of over 10,000 objects belonging to Charles M. Russell including letters, drawings, personal belongings, photos, and other memorabilia. Homer Britzman worked extensively with Charles Russell’s wife, Nancy, to write Russell’s biography. Chain of custody: Nancy Russell, Homer and Helen Britzman, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Amon Carter (inventoried collection in 1997), Gilcrease Management Trust (will become property of TU Special Collections if management agreement between TU and the City of Tulsa is severed).
