Transcript

July 9th, 1926. Mr. George D. Sack, Weymouth, North, Nova Scotia My dear Mr. and Mrs. Sack:- You can guess what we are here for. Chas. was operated on for goiter last Saturday and is getting along just fine. He is in the convalescing hospital now and we hope to leave for Montana about the 16th. He was miserable at the last of our stay in California. You remember, Mr. Sack, those terrible choking, dizzy spells he had. Well, they kept coming. When he went through the Clinic here they said his heart was not very good, but that the goiter had more to do with it than anything, so it is now a thing of the past. Charles’ mental attitude is absolutely fine. He says he will be doing better work now than he has ever done. I am sorry he did not model the water hole, but he just somehow could not get his mind to do the thing as he felt it should be done. I don’t remember whether you saw the little model of Secrets of the Night or not. If not, you are going to be delighted with it as I think it is one of the darlingest [sic] things he ever did. It is an Indian sitting on a ledge of rock holding a staff. A big owl has just lighted on his shoulder and is whispering to him. Knowing Charles’ work you can imagine what a darling thing that is. When you write address us Apgar, Montana, as we will be there by the 20th I feel sure. I believe Jack wrote to you thanking you for the map. It gave him the greatest amount of pleasure and taught him a lot about the boundaries of the states. Thank you for your kindness. Sincerely,
