From Nancy C. Russell to George D. Sack, March 7, 1930
Description
Two page typed letter from Nancy C. Russell to Mr. George D. Sack dated March 7, 1930 asking if the Sacks would be interested in purchasing a couple of painting that are on the market by Charles M. Russell and states that the book 'Good Medicine' will be released by the 15th of March just before Charles M. Russell's birthday.
March 7, 1930. Mr. George D. Sack, 350 E. 57th St., New York City. Dear George and Madeline: Writing to you people has been one of the things that’s been sticking in my mind for some time but the days are so full of all kinds of things that I don’t get time to really sit quietly and visit. I want to thank you for your lovely letter with the poem enclosed. From the tone of your letter, I know you are having some very interesting hours and are getting an unusually great amount of pleasure out of them. I guess my mind is too full of earthly things to be able to forget what is going on around me sufficiently to find the message that you feel is waiting for me on the other side of this vail [sic]. I do appreciate your kind letters and messages. A friend in St. Louis wrote to me stating that she wanted to dispose of a little painting of some Indians traveling with travois. The canvas is 12” x 19”. It is a very good picture, painted in 1899. I have asked them to send me a photograph and when it comes, if you are interested, I’ll send it on to you with their price. Maybe, through your Guide, you can find out what Charlie things of the little picture. Under separate cover, I’m sending you a photograph of a watercolor 29 ½” x 21”. It was also painted in 1899. The photograph will tell you all that I could tell you. This is to come from Chicago and I’ve written to Mr. Robins to get his lowest price. It looks like a good picture. The distance in the photograph is lovely. If you want to see the original, I’ll have him send it on to you. It’s possible that you have no more space for Russell pictures but I felt I should tell you about these two things. You can return the photograph after you have looked at it. Now, that Jack is so much better than he was, I’m going to tell you about him. He got some rather serious kidney trouble and has been under the doctor’s care constantly for the past three months. I have him at home. He goes -1- page 2 to school near here but is not taking a hard course. He is growing very fast and I suppose he went beyond his strength but now the doctor seems to feel and I do too that he is on the road to being a strong, healthy youngster. I have been much worried about him. You may want to know that Charlie’s birthday is March 19th and our lovely book, “Good Medicine,” will be released by the 15th. Won’t that be a wonderful birth- day remembrance. My best love to the three of you. Sincerely, NCR: ED
