Transcript

November 1, 1927 Mrs. Charles M. Russel[sic], 725 Michigan Blv’d., Pasadena, Calif. Dear Mrs. Russel[sic]: We want to make every effort possible to establish the Charles M. Russel [sic] Memorial Exhibition as one of the great artistic events in New York this year. We have been greatly disappointed that we have not received from you some little stories about “Charlie” Russel’s [sic] life and photographs of various paintings, or incidents in his painting and cow-boy career. For instance, we have heard that the Prince of Wales bought two or three of Mr. Russel’s[sic] paintings, and also the Duke of York. If this is true please give us any of the details regarding price paid and what the Prince of Wales thought of Mr. Russel’s[sic] work, or better still, any remarks he made about his painting and sculpture. Kindly send same to us by return mail so that we can get in touch with the press promptly. Yours very truly, [signed] Erwin S. Barrie ESB/ES Manager.
