From Grand Central Gallery to Mr. Harry Carr, November 15, 1939
Description
From Grand Central Gallery, November 15, 1939, regarding large public museum with large collection of Western and Indian art.
GRAND CENTRAL ART GALLERIES, INC. November 15, 1939 Mr. Harry Carr, 571 Wyoming St., Pasadena, Calif. Dear Mr. Carr: I enjoyed very much meeting you in my office yesterday and I am quite hopeful that we may be able to bring about the sale of the Russell paintings in the manner that both you and Mrs. Russell desire. At least I feel that we both speak the same language and that is something. As I told you our client’s name is Mr. Frank Phillips, President of the Phillips Petroleum Co. He is planning on establish- ing a very large public museum collection of cowboy and indian[sic] paintings and other works of art and I am hopeful that if everything is handled properly that we will be able to get him to take the entire collection but, of course, I can not tell much about it until we have a talk with him. As soon as this occurs we will advise you promptly. For your information, our regular commission on the sales of paintings and bronzes is 25%. I will keep you well informed and if Mr. Phillips corresponds with you you can also keep us advised. Yours truly, (signed) ERWIN S. BARRIE Manager. ESB: RMM
