[1] January 26, 1928. Mrs. Nancy C. Russell, 725 Michigan Boulevard, Trail’s End, Pasadena, California. Dear Mrs. Russell: I have just received your letter of January 20th, and after reading the same, I took the liberty of telegraphing you by night letter. Of course I do not know what action you have taken since receiving the telegram, but it occurs to me to advise you that my reason for sending you this telegram was that inasmuch as you were paying at the rate of $30.00 per $1000.00 for what we call a blanket floater protection and whereas our rate book indicated that you would have to pay $33.00 per $1000.00 for burglary insur- ance alone and which be applicable only in your residence, it seemed only fair that you should be informed as to these costs. If you have seriously considered our telegram and Mr. Holland happens to be the man that you choose as an agent and you are continuing your blanket policy which you have had with us heretofore, we would advise that being a general agency, we have the privilege of paying Mr. Holland the same commission as he could obtain from any company in Pasadena. In the second paragraph of your letter you tell us not to renew your auto- mobile insurance because you are taking that out with the Automobile Club in California, so we will mark this policy to be dropped as of its expira- tion date, which is April 29, 1928. Relative to the policy which covered Burglary, Tornado, Water Damage and Fire insurance on you furniture at 1219 Fourth Avenue North, I would advise you that this was cancelled July 1, 1927, and I gave you a return premium of $90.32. I did this on the day that you paid me some premiums for insurance on your automobile, and if you will remember, you handed me the difference. The policies that are now in force in this office are as follows: Automobile #1450 11/23/26 to 29 $5000.00 Dwelling -1219 4th Ave. No. Automobile #1451 11/23/26 to 29 $1000.00 ) Studio and contents 2000.00 Automobile #1452 11/23/26 to 29 $3500.00 )Summer Home 500.00 RCAR-7317847 4/29/27 to 28 1926 Lincoln Fire, Theft, Collision, Property Damage and Public Liability _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ CR-135084 4/8/26 to 29 Cancelled 7/1/27 Premium $179.29 Refund $71.72 [2] -2- Mrs. Nancy C. Russell You will note that there is $5000.00 on your dwelling at 1219 Fourth Avenue North and there is the policy on the studio and its contents and also a policy on your summer home on Lake McDonald, and of course the automobile policy which expires in April. I trust that I have given you the kind of service relative to your insurance which will justify your continuing the fire insurance on your property here in Montana as it becomes due. I know that I have tried to keep everything in good order, and of course if I must lose some of the business, that can not be helped. I can see your point of view wherein you want to deal with a local agent near your home on the property that you have in California, but I do not believe that anyone can give you better service that I can on your Montana property. In closing I would make the remark that I trust that if you will continue the blanket insurance on your pictures that you will allow Mr. Holland or any other agent to broker the same with us as general agents. This will not inconvenience them, and will allow us the benefit from the increased business sold out of our general agency. I wish to take this occasion to thank you for your past favors in business. Wishing you and Jack continued good health and fortune, I am Very truly yours, HUNTSBERGER-GIVENS COMPANY [signed] E.E. Givens EEG:B
