Transcript

February 19, 1929. Mr. Don R. Conway, Great Falls, Mont. Dear Mr. Conway: Your letters of February 12 and 14 received. In answer to the first, it is fine that Great Falls and vicinity are continuing to have art ex- hibitions and I’m sure each year they will grow stronger and better. I appreciate very much your interest and desire to have some bronze but I think it would be a waste of your time and the expense of express to send anything from here to Great Falls. They are not ready in that country to buy Russell bronze just yet. I know the effort you would put forth and I believe you could interpertethe[sic] bronze as well as anyone but I do not feel it is the thing to do. The bronze company you inquired about is the California Bronze Foundry, 1212 Pacific Mutual Bldg., Los Angeles. They do very good work and I have had them do a number of things for me in the past year. I’ve also gone into some length with them regarding the casting of the one life-sized model of Charlie for the Memorial. I believe when you are ready to take that matter up, it would be wiser if you are willing to allow me to make arrang- ments and get quotations that can be submitted directly now, to the Memorial Committee. I’m vitally interested in that model and intend to work with whoever reproduces it, as it must come out the way it should. My very best wishes for the success of your coming exhibition. Sincerely, NCR:ED .
