Handwritten, from Sharp, May 13, 1927, thanks for Charles M. Russell's Christmas greeting sketch, references to "Old Marrow Bones", "Blackfeet", "Mormon Jack", and "Shoshone".

[handwritten] May 13th 1927 Dear Mrs. Russell:- We are sorry not to have seen you again. We knew you were over rushed with your [home?], and our last days of errands and packing made us hustle up to the last minute. We only have our letter mail forwarded from Taos, so in the evenings we look over the vast accumulations of mail- magazines, packages & [unknown symbol] and the other evening we came to the Christmas greeting and Charlie’s sketch. We are very thankful indeed for this and appreciate it highly. In looking over my stuff here I have found a number of things to send on to Mr. Cole – He is so absolutely enthusiastic and appreciative that it is one of my greatest pleasures to hear from him. I find another head of “Cold Marrow Bones” & of M Black feet, and one of Cold Mormon Jack, Shoshone. I also have a number of Navaho[sic] & others in the same class as those Mr. Cole got – if you will let me know if you will be in Pasadena long [enough?] I will send several on for you to make a selection – or if you are returning to Mont. soon, can send them –whatever you say. It will give my great pleasure to do this. Mrs. Sharp joins me in my kind regards. Sincerely yours [signed] J.H. Sharp

The Homer and Helen Britzman collection consists of over 10,000 objects belonging to Charles M. Russell including letters, drawings, personal belongings, photos, and other memorabilia. Homer Britzman worked extensively with Charles Russell’s wife, Nancy, to write Russell’s biography. Chain of custody: Nancy Russell, Homer and Helen Britzman, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Amon Carter (inventoried collection in 1997), Gilcrease Management Trust (will become property of TU Special Collections if management agreement between TU and the City of Tulsa is severed).
