From Osborne Company, September 3, 1931, letter received, and yes, they would like a copy of Nancy C. Russell's statement of copyright release for Lewis and Clark.
September 2,1931. Mr. C.M. Schandies, Curator C. M. Russell Memorial Great Falls, Mont. Dear Sir: Your letter of August 18th has been held awaiting my return from a vacation. I havenoted [sic] carefully what you s ay regarding the rights to using the picture of Lewis & Clark and will be glad to have a copy of the statement from Mrs. Russell when you getit[sic]. We are undecided with regard to the subject, but perhaps by the time we hear from you again, we will know definitely what we will want to do. The Homer and Helen Britzman collection consists of over 10,000 objects belonging to Charles M. Russell including letters, drawings, personal belongings, photos, and other memorabilia. Homer Britzman worked extensively with Charles Russell’s wife, Nancy, to write Russell’s biography. Chain of custody: Nancy Russell, Homer and Helen Britzman, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Amon Carter (inventoried collection in 1997), Gilcrease Management Trust (will become property of TU Special Collections if management agreement between TU and the City of Tulsa is severed).
