June 20, 1927 Dr. Philip G. Cole 470 Vanderbilt Avenue Brooklyn, New York Dear Philip: I sent by express Saturday the Father DeSmedt[sic] picture and you have no doubt before this received the frame and reflector. I hope they were in good shape. Now about the prints from the “Back Trail- ing the Old Frontier”, those pen sketches. I shall try to get for you prints that were made earlier in the life of the plates and will get what I can. The plates are not fit to use now. They were what they call mats which wear out very quickly. I am looking forward to seeing your lovely new room. I had a little talk with Mr. Fligman and he said he had been to see you he was enthusiastic also over your wonderful Russell collection. We had an uneventful trip home in the way of bad roads but very lovely coming into spring again. The mountains in Oregon are wonderful with good cement roads to see them from. I hope to get to Lake McDonald by the first week in July. I find it quite a job here and it may take longer to settle than I had hoped. Jack’s school was good for him but he is so happy to get back to his friends here and is looking forward to his horse up at the Lake. My kindest regards to you and Katharine. Sincerely,
