December 27, 1927 Mrs. Charles M. Russell, “Trail’s End” 701 Michigan Boulevard, Pasadena, Calif. Dear Nancy: I am enclosing my check for $800 .00 cover - ing the bill for “Counting Coup” which is also enclosed. As I am trying to get my affairs straigh- tened up preparatory to our trip abroad, will you be kind enough to receipt and return the enclosed bill by next mail. I enclose a stamped envelope for its return. Thanks ever so much for the lovely Christmas card by Ed Borein showing “Trail’s End”. I am taking it home to-night to show Katharine. Thanks, also, for the check for $50.00 refund on the exchange of “Sleeping Thunder” for the Texas Long Horn”. These are very busy days. If possible I will write you more at length later. The whole family unite in sending every good wish to yourself and Jack, also to Ted, for the coming year. As always, [signed] Philip Encl.
