Description
From Nancy C. Russell, April 8, 1926, will get a better model of "Indian Scalp Dancer" from the bronze works, asks if Cole wants a copy of the ash tray "To Noses that Read a Smell that Spells Man", hopes "Horse Herder" or "Night-Wrangler" arrived in good condition.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx 6816 Odin Street Hollywood. April 8, 1926. Dr. Philip G. Cole, 8 Maplewood Road, Forest Hill Gardens, L. I. Dear Dr. Cole: They reported to me from the Biltmore Salon that you wanted that “Indian Scalp Dancer”, and I am going to try to get you a better one from the bronze works in Brooklyn. A friend of ours , Mr. Sack, is on his way to New York. He will be there in about ten days and has promised to go to the bronze foundry and pick out a good model for you. He is a friend and knows when the model is right. They may have to make it and if so it will probably be six weeks from this time before it can be delivered to you. They also told me that you were desirous of having the little ash-tray, “To noses that read a smell that spells man”. I have a copy of that here and if you want it, let me know and I will send it on to you. I trust that the “Horse-Herder”, or “Night-Wrangler” was received in good shape and that the changes Charlie made in your painting did the trick for you. We have not forgotten the sheep picture, Charlie joins in kind regards,
