Dear Mrs. Russell: I am enclosing here with my check for One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) as a deposit on my four purchases from you, which I list below but which, as per our arrangement for deduction of Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) on the above four, amounts to $7,065.00 instead of $8,565.00. Oil Painting – “When Guns were their Passports" - $ 6,000.00 Oil Painting – “Head Man” - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1,800.00 Bronze - “The Bucker and the Buckeroo” - - 600.00 Bronze - “The Medicine Man” - - - - - - - - - - - 165.00 $ 8, 565.00 this leaves a balance due you of $6,065.00 when I take them away. You will note as per our telephone conversa- tion of this morning that I have chosen “The Bucker and the Buckeroo” at $600.00 instead of the “The Horse Wrangler” and added the Two Hundred Dollars difference in price in the above figures. Having Charlie Russell pictures with one here in New York is the only way I know of enjoying such ad- vantages as the East has to offer, and yet having Montana with one. I am now the proud owner of six Russell pictures. Mrs. Cole and I will doubtless be in again with some of our friends, and are also looking forward to having you see the very modest beginning we have al- ready made toward a collection of the Northwest – probably some day or evening next week.
