Copyright agreement between Homer Britzman and Hobson & Herr, Inc. over Charles M. Russell's paintings, entitled "When Wagon Wheels Were Dim," "When the Trail was Long Between Camps", "Tight Dally and Loose Latigo", "Waiting for a Chinook", "The Challenge", "At the End of the Rope", "Return of the Warriors". Typed on the front of two pages.
AGREEMENT I, HOMER BRITZMAN, being the owner of the rights of reproduction of those certain paintings of Charles Russell, entitled and known as: 1. “When Wagon Wheels Were Dim” 2. “When The Trail Was Long Between Camps” 3. “Tight Dally and Loose Latigo” 4. “Waiting for a Chinook” 5. “The Challenge” 6. “At the End of the Rope” 7. “Return of the Warriors” In consideration of the payment, by Hobson & Herr, Inc., publishers, of the sum of TWO HUNDRED and no/100 ($200.00) DOLLARS within one month following the date of publication of that certain book tentatively entitled “Gallery of Western Artists”; and of the furnishing to the said HOMER BRITZMAN of fifty (50) copies of the said book without cost by HOBSON & HERR, Inc., publishers, does hereby grant permission to the said HOBSON & HERR, Inc., to reproduce the above-mentioned paintings HOBSON & HERR, Inc., to reproduce the above-mentioned paintings and all reproductions in the said “Gallery of Western Artists” and utilize said reproductions in all ways necessary for the publication, exploitation and sale of the said book. The Homer and Helen Britzman collection consists of over 10,000 objects belonging to Charles M. Russell including letters, drawings, personal belongings, photos, and other memorabilia. Homer Britzman worked extensively with Charles Russell’s wife, Nancy, to write Russell’s biography. Chain of custody: Nancy Russell, Homer and Helen Britzman, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Amon Carter (inventoried collection in 1997), Gilcrease Management Trust (will become property of TU Special Collections if management agreement between TU and the City of Tulsa is severed).
