Charles Russell: Artist and Range Rider, June 28, 1924
Description
Article by V.A.C. James dated 28 June 1924 titled 'Charles Russell: Artist and Range Rider' starts out 'His night scenes have all of the over-whelming spirit of the great spaces--the blue-black night under the stars, with highlights of glowing orange colour, of the oil lamps of the dance halls, streaming through the open door, is weird and unforgetable. He has patiently toiled, he has played with colour, and he has given loose rein to his imagination, and the spirit of the silent places has bit into his inner vision, and has awakened the soul of a great artist. He paints glowingly, gloriously.'
