Handwritten in ink on the back, "Old timers of the Royal North West Mounted Police gathered at Machod[?] Alberta July 1st 1924 From the four corners of the globe-- J.B. Southerland[?]" and "1-Sir Cecie Denny 1874 Capt. only living officer that came to Machod in 1874, 2-Col Walker 1874 Calgary, 3-Col Sanders Magistrate Calgary, 4-Inspector Piper of Alberta Police, 5-W.C. Bryon Commissioner of Alberta Police, 6-John Sterron Pincher Creek and Ex. Member Parliament, 7-John Ryan care taken at the Courth house here his father was an old Indian war veteran. [Illegible] probably knew him." Men mentioned on the back are numbered in ink on the front.

The Homer and Helen Britzman collection consists of over 10,000 objects belonging to Charles M. Russell including letters, drawings, personal belongings, photos, and other memorabilia. Homer Britzman worked extensively with Charles Russell’s wife, Nancy, to write Russell’s biography. Chain of custody: Nancy Russell, Homer and Helen Britzman, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Amon Carter (inventoried collection in 1997), Gilcrease Management Trust (will become property of TU Special Collections if management agreement between TU and the City of Tulsa is severed).
