 Item — Box: 1, Folder: 3
Identifier: 3626.283

Description

Charles Joseph Latrobe’s ten-page diary records his travels from July 11-August 23, 1832. He begins by discussing the Native American tribes he encounters during the start of his journey, but he does not give the tribe names. In one entry, Latrobe worries because he has traveled eighteen miles off course, and in a later entry, Latrobe discusses another traveler he encounters who always carried a Bible under one arm and a cookery book under the other. Latrobe's handwriting is very difficult to read, and the ink is faded on certain pages. Overall, Memoranda Two is in fragile condition.
