Inscription(s)

Inscribed, "Confederate and World War Memorial, Calhoun, GA." under image on recto; Inscribed, "The Sequoyah statue may be seen through the archway in front. The triangular Memorial Park stands at the north limits of town Calhoun, Ga. about fifty-five miles south of Chattanooga where the Chatsworth road leads off from the Chatta-Atlanta Highway. Two miles on the Chatsworth road to the east of this statute is New Echota, the last capital of the Cherokees east of the Missippi [sic]. This was designed and built by W.L. Hillhouse, of Calhoun, Ga. in 1927, and was paid for by the Calhoun Woman's Club. Made of Stone Mountain granite. -Robert Sparks Walker, July 20, 1937." on verso
