Context
This letter was written two (2) months after Empress Carlota returned to Europe. The note along the side of the letter likely refers to the alleged cognitive and emotional collapse the empress suffered after her failed attempts for continued support in Mexico. Empress Carlota remained in Europe until her death in 1927.
