John T. Cochrane's letter to Captain A. Pike dating April 25, 1861. In this letter, Cochrane gives more details to follow up his April 23rd letter. Cochrane seems calmer as he has gathered more information about the misunderstanding with the Choctaw. A man named Cooper is under suspicion because of his misuse of funds and his influence over the Choctaws. Cochrane expresses his concern that Cooper could persuade the Choctaws to follow the Confederacy. In addition, Cochrane warns Captain Pike about two delegation members, Luce and Pitchlynn. Due to suspicions, Cochrane discusses how he wants his contract with Pitchlynn to be given to Captain Pike. Also, because of the variety of crooked dealings occurring, Cochrane tries to persuade Captain Pike to use the receipts Cochrane kept as proof of the corruption within the delegation. Cochrane mentions Captain Pike may want to use his Masonic influence to help handle the issues. Cochrane ends with a note stating a special agent has been sent out to keep an eye on Cooper and the Choctaw, but even Cochrane does not know who the agent is.
