Letter and address by Albert Pike to the Choctaw Legislature, circa 1862
Description
Albert Pike's address to the Legislature and the people of the Choctaw Nation. Pike begins by discussing the duties he initially agreed to in the contract between him and the delegation. He states he agreed to prosecute the claims of both individual members and those of National importance as specified under the Treaty of 1830 on behalf of the Unites States Government. However, he continues by discussing the broken contracts, new contracts, lack of payment, and broken promises he has encountered.
