Biographical sketch of Edward McCoonse or Quakechewun, February 14, 1859
Description
Edward McCoonse was a second chief of the Chipeways of Kansas Territory. Edward was thirty years old in 1859. The sketch states that there is nothing extraordinary about Edward except that he and his forefathers had multiple wives. His grandfather, Mukittawquit, never had less than eight wives at a time. His father, Eshtonquit, or Francis McCoonse, always had from two to four wives at a time. Sketch states that Edward has more than one wife but will not wish to say how many wives he has. Folder 242
