Description

Affidavit given by Snake Girty, a solicitor, stated that Samuel Benge and Charles Fallen stole a steer that was four years old from O. P. Brewer. The Steer was worth $20.00. The steer was stolen sometime on or about July 15, 1873. The affidavit was signed ᎢᎾᎴᏧᏂᏴᎦ and was given before J. L. McCorkle. 4026.1956.1 was the warrant by J. L. McCorkle for the arrest of Samuel Benge and Charles Fallen to answer for the charge of stealing a steer. On verso of 4026.1956.1 note stated that the warrant was served by William Vann, Deputy Sherriff [sic], in the Canadian District. There were two jury rulings on verso of 4026.1956.1. One jury ruling reads, "We the Jury do Agree that the prisoner is guilty of the charge. Mr. Griffin, Foreman of Jury, this 12th of September 1873". The other jury ruling reads, "We the jurors do unanimously agree that the prisoner [sic] is not guilty of the charges set forth in the warrant, Stevan Hilderbrand, foreman of the jury, Oct the 1st 1873".
