Three photographs of "Childe Rowland" , 1898 - 1899
Description
Folder 439
This appears to be a photograph of the 1885 version of Thomas Moran's painting, Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came. Moran created a larger version early in his career in 1859 [see 4316.5607]. The painting was inspired by Robert Browning's poem of the same name, which was in turn inspired by Shakespeare's King Lear.
