Scope and Contents
Sub-series is comprised of 5 folders with 28 photographs. Dates range from 1987 to 1991. The photographs consist of miscellaneous images of Eddie Faye Gates attending various conventions and awards ceremonies she attended. There are images of Eddie Faye Gates preparing to present for the Tulsa Area Alliance of Black School Educators (TABSE) awards as well as her attending the conference for the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) in Dallas, Texas with her daughter Donna J. Gates and grandchildren. Notable people in the photographs are Alice Raines, mother of George Thomas "Mickey" Leland, Cheryl B. Moore McNair, widow of Challenger astronaut Ronald McNair, Patricia Royal, William Christmas, Dr. Michael Smith, Representative Don Ross, Dr. Jerome Harris, Evelyn Lawson, and Millard House. There are images of The Tulsa Metropolitan Ministries Racism Conference and Education Workshop, held downtown in Tulsa, with notable people Troy Petit, Jr. and Troy Petit, Sr., a daughter of Judy Moody, Dr. Louis Ballard, and Eddie Faye Gates meeting Coretta Scott King, widow of Martin Luther King, Jr. There are images of a Human Rights Seminar that Eddie Faye Gates attended with notable people LaTasha Mayberry, Erica Jones, and Tracye Taylor, of Edison High School, and Representative Don Ross. There are images of a planning conference program at the Tulsa Press Club of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, with Eddie Faye Gates and Norman Gates, as well as notable people Lois Marie DeBerry, Assemblywoman Gwen Moore, Representative Abraham "Abe" Lincoln Giles, Hartford Mayor, Carrie Saxon Perry, Dr. John Arrondondo, Representative David P. Richardson, Senator Maxine Horner, Senator Regis F. Groff, and Representative Don Ross, as well as Representative Norman E. Justice.
