Scope and Contents
Petition to Judge J. Floyd, Superior Court, Newton County, Georgia, from Thomas F. Jones, attorney. This petition requests the release of Tyre L. Harris who is under age eighteen and held by a conscripting officer. This same document contains the following three items: an order by Floyd to Sheriff Newton Anderson to produce Harris, a statement by Sarah Harris concerning Tyre's age and his volunteering for service, and a statement by John T. Terrell, conscripting officer. There is also a petition addressed to Newton Anderson and one signed by John L. (last name indecipherable).
