[Tribute record from ten towns of the Acolhuacan, including: Huexotla, Tepetlaoztoc, Texcoco, Coatlinchan, and other unidentified towns], circa 1550
Description
This is a visual record of the tributes paid by individuals from ten towns, including Huexotla, Tepetlaoztoc, Texcoco, Coatlinchan, and other unidentified towns. The artist included the place names or toponyms of each town.
This tribute record is divided into four large rows; some rows have 9 columns and others have 10. This pictorial record shows the tributes paid by the ten towns, most likely to the church, as two of the rows feature images of 10 different churches. The tributes are fairly consistent: tomines (coins), chickens, eggs, cacao pods.
The tribute list continues on the back of the manuscript.
