Letter from John Brown, John Looney, John Rogers, and John Smith (witnessed by Stokes and Lt. Simmons) to Chief John Ross and other chiefs and principal men of Emigrant Cherokees. Protesting call for July 1 convention made June 21 and suggesting meeting of representatives of two factions on July 25. (Moulton).
