Collection Overview
Collection summary derived from "Guidebook to Manuscripts", 1969: A fragment of a letter written to a John H. Dick is under the letterhead of the Indian Educational Commission, Indian Territory. Within the letterhead is a picture of the Indian University which was chartered and named by A.C. Bacone. In 1910 it became Bacone College named in honor of the founder and is located at Muskogee, Oklahoma. Also included is a program dated June 1, 1883, for the third annual commencement of the Indian University. For seven letters and statements written to Reverend Thomas F. Richardville by Bacone, see "Richardville, Rev. T.F."

Provenance
The Gilcrease Foundation acquired these materials before 1964 and is housed in the Helmerich Center for American Research (HCAR). The library currently receives most materials through community donation, board members, artists and the acquisition of manuscript collections.
Processing Information
Staff, interns, and volunteers of the Thomas Gilcrease Library and Archive have contributed to the organization and maintenance of the files since the collection passed to the City of Tulsa in the 1950s.
