Algonquin Manuscript
Collection Overview
Collection summary derived from "Guidebook to Manuscripts", 1969: Written in French, this is an account of a trip to the Algonquin Indian country in Canada (New France) depicting the life of the Indians. It is a bound document entitled "Relation du Voyage Faict en l'annee 1645 au Nom du Roy au Pays des Algoumequins Dans la Nouvelle France ou Canada, et de la maniere de vivre des sauvages" (Narrative of the Voyage in year 1645 in name of to country of Algonquins in the New France or Canada, and the manner of living of the savages.) It is thirty pages in length and signed G.H. at the end of the document and is illustrated with five pen and ink drawings.

Provenance
The Gilcrease Foundation acquired these materials before 1964 and is housed in the Helmerich Center for American Research (HCAR). The library currently receives most materials through community donation, board members, artists and the acquisition of manuscript collections.
Processing Information
Staff, interns, and volunteers of the Thomas Gilcrease Library and Archive have contributed to the organization and maintenance of the files since the collection passed to the City of Tulsa in the 1950s.
