Letter from J. L. McCorkle to his son, David W. McCorkle, with news of the burning of the Cherokee Female Seminary, April 13, 1887
J. L. McCorkle wrote from Webbers Falls, Indian Territory to his son in Leavenworth, Kansas. McCorkle reported that the crops were not growing well and they have been without rain. Reported fires which destroyed 200 bales of cotton, business houses in Muskogee, and the Cherokee Female Seminary. The Cherokee Female Seminary burned Sunday last, which was April 10, 1887. Letter from John T. Drew, Solicitor, to Mr. W. G. Robinson concerning the employment of a United States citizen, May 15, 1877
John T. Drew was a solicitor in the Canadian District of the Cherokee Nation. Drew advised W. G. Robinson that he had to acquire a license to employee United States citizens and that Drew had no record of a license being obtained for one of Robinson's employees, James Pont [sic] Callaway. Drew advised Robinson that if he had not already obtained a license to employee Mr. Callaway that he do so quickly. Folder 432

Petition to Wm. West protesting J. A. Foreman operating a sheep ranch , July 19, 1882
William West was the Sheriff of the Canadian District of the Cherokee Nation. J. A. Foreman was a not citizen operating a sheep ranch two miles east of Muskogee. The were problems with the sheep ranch operating near all the cattle so the petitioners wanted the sheep ranch to be moved. Folder 478
Rent Contract between J. L. McCorkle, J. R. Williams and S. C. Stallcup for 166 acres of land , September 29, 1896
Rent Contract for 166 acres of land on the farm known as the Mrs. Emma McCorkle farm near Webbers Falls, Indian Territory. The rent contract was for one year, January 1, 1897 to January 1, 1898. J. R. Williams and S. C. Stallcup were renting the farm land from J. L. McCorkle. Payment for the land was one-third of all corn and one-forth of all cotton raised on the farm land rented. Folder 571
