2-layer valentine. Base layer blue white and gold; front layer green and pink with pink floral border, gold filigree surrounding purple crocus. Inside: 2 birds with "Love's Question. I send a question to thee, dear, each morning by the lark; and every night the nightingale, Brings answer ere the dark. The question needs no other words and this is the reply - I'll love the, dearest, while I live, and bless thee if I die."

3-layer valentine. Base layer pink and light blue; middle layer old mill wheel with ice; front layer white filigree over blue landscape with butterfly and small building. Inside: child playing lute with "All my best wishes are for you; as true as fond, :::::: As fond as true." Gilcrease Journal Vol. XX no. 2 Fall 2013 pg 8 notes as possibly manufactured by George Whitney, Worchester, MA, however no marking indicates a maker.

Also on cover hand holding flowers with "purity". Inside: sketch of woman holding flowers with poem "Come love, to me. This world would be dark without thee, the days would be dreary and long, for thou hast the charm about thee, to give me sweet sunshine and song."
