Description

R. C. Bollinger was a music dealer in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Bollinger informed Emma McCorkle that his traveling salesman and collector would be around to see her about the 30th. Bollinger's place of business was destroyed by fire and he sustained a heavy loss. He asked for Mrs. McCorkle to assist him by paying all that was due on her instrument. Body of letter was typed. Letter from R. E. Sumner to John T. Drew concerning horse, bridle, and saddle used to get Drew out of jail, October 4, 1870

Description R. E. Sumner, an attorney in Fort Smith, Arkansas, wrote to John T. Drew in Webbers Falls. Sumner explained to Drew that he was told if he got Jim out of jail he could have the horse, bridle, and saddle. Sumner thought the matter was settled and only later found out that the horse, bridle, and saddle were not Drew's property. However, it was too late because Sumner had already sold the pony to a gentleman who took it to Tennessee. Sumner asks if there was anything he could do to further...

R. M. French was the High Sheriff and was writing to William G. Robinson. French informed Robinson that his letter was received and Elias Warford was very glad his case was put off. Bushyhead Sevier was at home and quit guarding some time ago. French asked if Robinson had seen William West and stated that he needed to get to work if he wanted "this office". Letter signed R. M. R. M. French was the High Sheriff and was writing to William West the sheriff of the Canadian District in the Cherokee Nation. The letter gives the names and descriptions of two convicts who escaped from the insane asylum on the afternoon of July 19, 1882. The names of the two convicts were Isaac Daugherty and Doast Bennette. Folder 477
