Petition of letter from New Echota to Chief John Ross in Washington City citing abuses of Cherokee and asking 'that you give us some encouragement of your reconciliation to the fate (which has now become evident) of the Cherokees…'Let us do the only thing that reason will allow us to do, which is to get away speedily from this state of affairs.'
