Charles Joseph Latrobe’s fifty-three-page diary records his travels from August 24-December 1, 1832. On page seven, Latrobe sketched an image of the steamboat they were traveling on. He mentions some of the towns they passed through like Cincinnati, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and Franklin, Missouri. Latrobe states they met Daniel Boone’s nephew in Missouri. Throughout this diary, Latrobe discusses different Biblical figures and scripture passages. He also details some of the different denominations he encountered during his travels with specific references to the Presbyterian Congregational and the Dutch Reformed Church. Also, Latrobe mentions many “Indian Wars” and a few of the tribes he specifies is the Creek and Cherokee. Latrobe's handwriting is very difficult to read, and the ink is faded on certain pages. Overall, Memoranda Three is in fragile condition.
